Non-Hurricane Isaac Pictures

Key West was not impressed!  Days of preparation, worry, and school cancellings occurred for Isaac's appearance, but nothing really happened.

Rob and Buffett on the bow of Hope preparing to set a storm anchor in the harbor.  You can see Dockmaster Jon in the skiff preparing another boat's storm anchor.

Everybody boarded up.

We secured Rob's work boat with a storm anchor.  Buffett was a great helper.

A bit of rain blurred the view of the boats at the Yacht club.  Notice the bow out formation.  The Hope is 4th from the left, white with navy trim and our flag pole looks like a cross on the roof.

You can see all the storm anchor lines trailing out into the harbor.

One of the bad thunderstorms we got from Isaac.  This view is through the windshield.  We rocked a bit, but with 300 gallons of fresh water, 2 generators, and 200 gallons of fuel on the 50 ton Hope, we had nothing to worry about.

Summer Projects Complete!

OK, so during the summer I posted some work-in-progress pictures, but I finally took the time to take the finished product pics today.  It's raining out, hence the time for pic taking, but it did make some rooms appear a bit darker than usual.
The galley:  Freshly painted cabinetry and shelving (not pictured)

The upper bunk in the forward stateroom:  curtains dyed to a more appealing color.  New linens on beds.

Forward stateroom:  fresh paint on walls

Galley dinette: just bleached, scrubbed, and much improved!

Showing off the TV that Mom and Dad bought us last Christmas

The master stateroom facing starboard:  ALL trim and cabinetry repainted, new linens

Master stateroom facing aft:  New lighting installed and the mirror framed with white trim

Master stateroom facing forward:  Louvered doors painted (an all day project)

Paddleboarding fun

Buffett rode along till I anchored my paddleboard out at Sigsbee. I let him swim till he asked to get back on. I think he's thoroughly tuckered out.

Oh my!

You know you live in the tropics when you almost step on TWO deceased octopus on you way to do laundry. The ants are sure having some good sushi right now!

Happy 4 of July!

We had some rain, but that didn't stop the festivities. It cooled things down quite a bit, though. A chilly evening was quite welcome this time of year.

My sleepy boys

I love the rain

Rain is such a novelty here. It seems to only rain a few days a year and usually at night, so when it rains during the day I just love it!

Inspiring young minds

Sure feels good to get a note that reads like this one. Zoom in, it's worth it. Written by a kindergarten student.

Sunset

They never get old.

This was Saturday at the old seaport.

A good lunch

Some days I have enough time to ride home for lunch. It's such a pleasant way to break up my day. Buffett loves it to, of course.

Look at the pineapple growing at school!
